What is real news?

I'm sitting here this morning checking my e-mail and watching the news.  Is anyone else sick of watching stories about Brittany and all the other celebrities that can't seem to get a grasp on self-control?  That is not news!  News should be when something extraordinary, spectacular, life impacting, informative happens.

Here is news Nate's blog.

We heard about the 164,000 Christians that were martyred for their faith last year.  How many of those stories made our news?  It just goes to show that America's appetite for the absurd is more pressing than our appetite for what truly matters and what is really important.  David Nasser delivered an awesome message at Winterfest and brought out this point.

I often wonder if the "news world" really understands the real world?

Hmmm... Lets see... Brittany has a meltdown, or, thousands from around the world come together as word spreads over the internet to support in prayer and messages, a man, his very sick wife, and their unborn child, who by the fact that they are still surviving against all odds, are a testimony to the real power of prayer and a loving God.

Time's up!
Brittany's meltdown and surrounding "drama" wins. Why?
Our couple, first of all are Christians. They are also happily married. The wife just has Cystic Fibrosis, and their situation is only life and death...literally. And the thousands of people around the world who do know about this are only praying.
There are no affairs. addictions, divorce, STDs, phenominal amounts of money, or outrageous publicity stunts. And most of all, their not "hot" like Brittany...They're only beautiful. And that's just not good enough to be news.... not in this world.
