The three little pigs

If what you believe isn't true then what you believe is false.

One of my favorite childhood stories is the three little pigs.  The three little pigs that I grew up with is different than the original story of the three little pigs.  I believe the story was changed so as to not freak out little kids.  The story was made politically correct.  This discovery took place a couple of years ago as I read the story to Ty and I was shocked by what I discovered.

In the original three little pigs story  the pigs build their own homes, this is the same in both versions.  The wolf then comes along and does his huff and puff business blows down the first house and eats the pig!  The wolf then moves to the second home and does the same!  Wait I always thought the first pig just ran to the second pig's home then both of them ran to the third pigs home?

Ultimately the wolf goes down the third pig's chimney, into the pot over the fire and is cooked and eaten by the third pig.  Wait!  I always thought the wolf slid down the chimney got his hind quarters burnt and went flying out of the chimney and running away and the 3 pigs lived happily ever after.

Both are three little pig stories but the one I grew up with isn't the true story.  It was slightly changed to make the story seem nice but with tweaking the true story was diluted to the point that is was no longer the truth.  What I believed about the three little pigs wasn't true.  So, if what I believed wasn't true then what I believed was false.

What about your faith?  Is what you believe true?  How do you know?  Can you back up what you believe with evidence?

Alex McFarland says in his book, Stand, "Unshakable faith begins with the Bible."
Where does your faith begin?

Uncle Andy, (can we call you that?)
What a great illustration. As my husband and I are looking for a new church home, numero uno on the list of things to look for is that it is biblically sound and taught. We believe that if something a pastor says from the pulpit doesn't seem right, we challenge that by seeking the truth from our bibles. It is our guidepost for living. It is our manual for life. It is living and breathing and alive TODAY! Praise God!

I always loved "The three little pigs" too! I'll admit though I did wonder why the wolf didn't eat the pigs. I mean how could a pig out run a wolf?! Anyhow, I'm glad to know the "truth" now. My belief in the Lord is backed up in so many ways. I see His truth just by looking out the window, raising my son, having incredible parents, countless blessings, and the comfort I feel in my heart when things don't go well or in fact go horribly wrong. Now I get to witness a beautiful family(your family), see the miracle of Gwyneth Rose, and see believers from all around the world praying together! I'm crying just at the thought. If that isn't God, what is? I will never understand how someone can look at the miracle of life and state "there is no God". What's awesome is God is using Tricia, Nate, Gwyn, and your whole family to bring nonbelievers to Him. My heart just swells and I am loss for words to describe it.
Praying!!! Leslie
