Monday is Weigh Day

Well I have finished my first week of Weight Watchers.
I got to eat most everything I wanted to eat.  It fits me much better than the no carb or no fat diets.  If I want a biscuit on this diet I just have to decide if how many daily points I'm willing to give up for that on biscuit.  My cholesterol is probably going down because I actually went a week without eating any french fries, potato chips, pancakes smeared with butter.  (I'm getting hungry) I also ate steel cut oatmeal just about every morning.

I started off at 224 lbs. last Monday.  Today I weighed in at 214 lbs.  Ten pounds of Andy - gone!

How much will Andy weigh next Monday?  Tune in to find out!  I hope to be around 207 lbs. next Monday.

Amazing...I am a WW too...lost 23 pounds on the program and have kept it off for a year, but it took me quite a bit to lose that first 10 pounds...way to go! It was the best program I found to help me shed the baby weight and very easy to follow.

I saw Andrew last week and will send him your blog. You know he is only a state away from you in SC...wish you could get together with him.

Still praying for Tricia and Nate and PRAISING GOD for His faithfulness and provision.

Praying for your house too!

Congrats!!!

I lost 3 but think I gained it back today. I fell and hurt my back, was ordered to bed by a doctor so I took comfort in some chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. :o

Congrats! I found your blog from Nate's.

I've lost 7lbs in 4 months lol... I wish I could do it weekly. I love the idea of WW but here in Canada it's quite expensive.

Keep going!

I don not think I would use any of my points on brussel sprouts but it's you thing - congrats and keep up the great work

Andy Lawrenson said...

1 cup of Brussel sprouts are 0 points as is broccoli.
Cha Ching! 0 point fillers!!!!!!
I now have two points left for the day and am trying to decide how to blow em.
I wonder what a quarter serving of a pop tart is worth?

As to the 10 lbs. When you are as obese as me it takes a while to notice the loss. :)

When I get five minutes to myself, I'm going to give you my awesome yummy recipe for Black Bean soup...I know you enjoy the La Forgata! It's only ONE point per cup...so, with a little sour cream on top you are very good to go. I'll go dig it out and come back.

Coach Prentice said...

Black Bean Soup:

3 16oz cans black beans, rinsed
1 cup water
1 1/2 cups chicken broth, fatfree
1 medium onion
4 cloves of garlic, minced
24 oz salsa (2.5 cups)
2 Tablespoons lime juice
1 Tablespoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Place two cans of beans, water and broth in blender. Puree. Pour into large soup pot with remaining can of beans.

Spray large skillet with Pam and saute onion and garlic.

Add to soup pot with all other ingredients. Bring to a boil, reduce to low and simmer for 30 minutes, covered.

One cup = one point.

Easy Sweet and Sour Chicken:

Mix together one jar of Polaner All Fruit Apricot with one jar of salsa. Pour over chicken breast and put in crockpot or bake for 30 minutes.

Points: Salsa is free, figure the All Fruit points and divide by servings.

amy smith said...

Congrats Andy, that is great. I do think that this WW thing will help once you get the shearing. You will be a sleek, stealthy somebody.

I need to get some pointers from you and get with the WW program myself.

Amy - maybe the male metabolism is higher than the female's?

I was joking about the family's fat girl :)

It's not free. http://www.weightwatchers.com
They are offering a free week but when you sign up you have to give your credit card info and then they start automatically charging your card.
I can't remember the fee but it is like $45 for a mont or $60 for three months. I went with the three month plan.

You create an online account and you punch in what you eat and it shows and tallies up your points. You can also find recipes as well as restaurants on there to find out what the points are for say a Blooming Onion from Outback.

amy smith said...

yeah, metabolism, that's it.... couldn't be that we mom's work ourselves to the BONE with our FIVE kids, and have NO TIME to count points, or WORK OUT.... oh, no, wait, that's just me. :)

careysue said...

Thanks...I will try to give myself a head start by following it-we women do have to work a lot harder at this weight thing!!!! Not fair, but, we are up for the task because- basically we are tougher! :)

Congrats on the weight loss! 10lbs in a week is amazing - the only time I lost that much that quickly was when I gave birth. LOL

I might just have to check out WW - something needs to happen here.

I just thought I would chime in with some encouragement for all of us who need exercise as well as a healthy change to our eating plans. I got a pedometer yesterday and will begin a challenge at work on 4/28. I put it on this afternoon just to see how many steps I do on average so I would know how to challenge myself - so far in 4 hours I have walked 3000 steps so I figure I have to do alot more walking to meet my goal of 10000 steps per day - I'm tired just thinking about it but I am always up for a challenge - plus it's god for my heart -

Bonnie said...

ok, it's been 10 hours...can you tell the difference yet?
I still have 4 points left for the day. I was shocked how much my peanut butter bread in the morning counts. However, I found out today that oatmeal just doesn't cut it for me! Thanks for the pep talk, Sarg~

You dont know me, I found your site through Nate's blog, I am one of the countless people checking in!

Just wanted to say way to go!

I joined WW in September and lost 35 pounds. I am now at goal and a Lifetime Member.

Keep it up and you will see a huge difference!

Just so you know....(not to be a downer), you will probably find that you lose faster in the first few weeks and then it slows down a bit. Don't get discouraged by that.

andy, better be careful, when you were hired on they hired all of you. when there is less of you i think they can adjust your salary. you won't need it anyway, you'll be eating alot less. just kidding but keep up the great "health regime"
